Wow, so glad to be able to post my first Alternative Curves challenge post – such interesting themes to the challenges in the upcoming months, and after a little while of gawking at all the wonderful participants, I thought, why not, it’s called a ‘challenge’ for a reason. Alternative Curves is basically the go-to for alternative styling for plus women, some of the looks these dolls pull off have me completely floored, seriously. I don’t really have anyone to take my photos yet, so I found my photos were way over on exposure because of all the (yay) sun. Hopefully I’ll skill up in this soon enough!

So, my take on the Alternative Fairytale is looking at the traditional Irish story of Deirdre (or Derdriu – pronounced dare-DRUH). I consider this ‘Alternative’ because aside from the modern connotation of little girls in dresses that look like cakes, Deirdre’s story is what is classically a tradgedy. Also known as ‘Deirdre of the Sorrows’ – it has stuck in my mind for two reasons. The first being that my name has derivatives in the flower of sorrows and secondly, the story itself.
